Chef Mate
app design, UI / UX, logo design, branding
How to find the best dishes in local restaurants or those whose cities you will visit soon? How to be visible to potential customers in trustworthy place if You are restaurant’s manager? The answer is under Your fingers.
Chef Mate is an app where You can find the best dishes from the best chefs (based on users’ votes).
Taste from the best
Initially the client was very determined to use bright and colorful aesthetics, based on multiple gradients. Fortunately with the argument that the look of this app should be a promise of quality of the dishes, he changed his mind. This led to minimal design with black / white key, accented with gold details.
But the scope of the project wasn’t only about the looks. Client wanted a full package: logo, branding, web design, UI and UX. The last one included logic and structure of 2 versions of the application: for restaurants’ customers and managers.
Hungry eyes
People are „eating with their eyes” first, so app’s desktop welcomes us with scrollable dish rank in form of big photos. Yeah, it’s foodies‘ own Instagram :)
Deliciously served
Dish stream can be filtered with multiple options: searched phrase, price range, maximum distance, vegan / vegetarian options, specific restaurants’ location, dish and food type. If You want your previous preferences left intact (for example You are looking for the best dishes in a city You will be visiting) You can save last three options temporarily for one hour.
Right here, right now
But what about when You are in restaurant and don’t know what to choose? You can check-in and scroll through restaurant’s menu, also sorted by customers rates.
You ate? You rate!
Rank is based on users votes. You can rate and comment Your restaurant’s experience, contributing to rating average. Your voice is important!
Best move for restaurants
Above features are for restaurants’ customers. But what about restaurants themselves?
With pro version of the app You can view / add / edit every aspect of menu, dishes and restaurant info. That includes dishes’ statistics showing menu’s condition.
Let them know
Tablet pro app has additional, special button located next to the dish-adding one. It activates Point Of Sale Mode.
This feature is designed for restaurants that want to promote their presence in the app by displaying menu (sorted by customers votes) on a tablet placed on the floor / wall / desk stand.
POS Mode is limited with 4-digit passcode, to prevent unauthorized access to management tools.
Best suited fit
For most of the screens, standard design responsiveness works very well, but for the best experience, dish pages, dish rank and passcode lock screen are tailored in adaptive manner on tablet.
Who’s counting?
Because there are 2 apps and big part of the pro version is content management system, over 100 screens were delivered to cover all user stories.
